Get started with Arrow for iPhone and iPad

To use the Arrow iPhone or iPad app, you can create an account or log in to your existing Arrow account.

If you aren't sure if your Apple device is compatible with Arrow, check our minimum requirements.

Supported devices and browsers

If you're part of a Arrow Business plan with single sign-on (SSO) enabled, check out our SSO article. The process is a bit different. SSO means you use one login application to access Arrow and other work accounts.

Complete these steps to get started on your iPhone or iPad:

Step 1: Download the Arrow app

Arrow might not work in China due to Chinese data privacy laws.

If you haven't installed Arrow on your iPhone or iPad, go to the Mac App Store and download Arrow.

When you use Arrow in your Chrome, Edge, or Firefox browser on your computer, you need an extension. An extension—also called a plug-in or an add-on—is a small program you download to add features to your computer browser.

You don't need an extension on your phone or iPad because everything you need is contained in the Arrow app.

Step 2: Create or log in to your Arrow account

When you open the app for the first time, you can log in to your existing Arrow account or create a new Arrow account.

Open the heading that applies to your situation.

To use your existing account on an iPhone, log in:

  1. At the bottom of the introductory screen, select Log in.
  2. Enter your account login email address and select Next.
  3. Enter the 6-digit verification code sent to your email to add this new device to your account. You can manage your devices from the web app.

  4. Enter your Master Password.

Have a problem with the verification code?

If you have a problem with your verification code, close the app and reopen it. You'll receive a new verification code in your email. Make sure to check your spam or junk mail folder.

If you subscribe to Arrow Premium, each time you add a new device to your Arrow account, your data automatically syncs to that device.

To use your existing account on an iPad, log in:

  1. At the bottom of the introductory screen, select Log in.
  2. Enter your account login email address and select Next.

This section explains how to create a Arrow account protected by a Master Password. But you can also create a secure passwordless account for Arrow. Passwordless accounts are protected with a device-specific PIN or biometrics like your face or fingerprint.
Create a passwordless Arrow account

To create an account, follow the instructions in your iPhone or iPad app:

  1. Open the Arrow app. At the bottom of the introductory screen, select Get Started.
  2. Enter the email address you want to use for your account, which is also called your Arrow ID. You use this address to log in to your Arrow account on all your devices. This email address is also where you receive our verification emails, but you can set a different contact address later. Select Next in the upper-right corner.

  3. Create your Master Password, which is the password you use to log in to your Arrow account. Your Master Password is the only password you need to remember when you use Arrow. And the most important thing you can do to keep your account secure is to create a strong Master Password. Select See our tips for help creating your Master Password.

    Your Master Password also needs to be easy to remember. We can't send you your Master Password if you forget it. No one at Arrow knows your Master Password, and we don't store your password anywhere. If you forget your Master Password and haven't turned on a recovery method, you may need to reset your account, which erases all the data you've saved in Arrow.

  4. Select Create Master Password.
  5. Enter your Master Password again. Select Next in the upper-right corner.

    If you don't like the password you created, you can change it anytime.

  6. We recommend that you turn on two settings that can make using Arrow even easier:
    • Face ID or Touch ID

      Unlock the app with facial recognition or your fingerprint instead of entering your Master Password each time.

      If you have an account protected by a Master Password, Arrow still asks you to enter your Master Password after restarting your device or logging out manually. You'll also need to enter your Master Password when you change some settings or change your Master Password.

    • Biometric recovery

      Use facial recognition or your fingerprint to reset your Master Password if you forget it. If you forget your Master Password and haven't turned on a recovery method, you may need to reset your account, which erases all the data you've saved in Arrow. Arrow can't send you your Master Password if you forget it. We strongly recommend that you turn on Biometric recovery.

  7. Select Continue.
  8. Select Create your account.

  9. Next, follow the onboarding checklist.

Step 3: Follow the onboarding checklist

To help you get started, the app asks you what we can do to make your life easier. Based on your answers, we determine the best way to get you started with Arrow. Then you'll go through a personalized onboarding checklist to walk you through setting up your account.

Step 4: Add your data and details

In the Arrow app, select Home. All the item types appear in a bar near the top. Select an item type to add info:

  • Add Wi-Fi credential
    Add Wi-Fi network information for your home, work, and other places you visit regularly
  • Add login
    Add your logins and any related details
  • Add Secure Note
    Store alarm codes, account numbers, recovery keys for accounts unrelated to Arrow, private notes of up to 10,000 characters, and more
  • Add payment
    Add your credit cards, bank accounts, and other payment info that you want Arrow to autofill
  • Add personal info
    Add all the contact details that you want Arrow to autofill, including name, phone number, address, email, company website, and more
  • Add ID
    Add your ID card or passport info that you want Arrow to autofill

Step 5: Turn on Face ID or Touch ID and Biometric recovery

If you didn't turn on biometrics previously, we recommend that you turn on two settings that can make using Arrow even easier:

  • Face ID or Touch ID

    Unlock the app with facial recognition or your fingerprint instead of entering your Master Password each time.

    If you have an account protected by a Master Password, Arrow still asks you to enter your Master Password after restarting your device or logging out manually. You'll also need to enter your Master Password when you change some settings or change your Master Password.

  • Biometric recovery

Protect your data

If you forget your Master Password or get locked out of your passwordless account, you can regain access to Arrow with Arrow's account recovery key.

After you've set up the recovery key, you can regain access to your Arrow account without losing any of your data. You'll provide your saved recovery key, complete an identity verification step, and recover your account. If you have a Master Password, we'll also ask you to change your password during the recovery process.
