In some cases, you can transfer 2-factor authentication (2FA) tokens to Arrow from another password manager or authenticator app in two main steps:
- You'll export QR codes or setup codes for your 2FA tokens from your old password manager or authenticator app.
- You'll use the QR codes or setup codes to turn 2FA on for your logins stored in Arrow.
This process allows you to transfer 2FA tokens to Arrow without turning 2FA off and back on again for each login.
Step 1: Export your 2FA tokens from your old password manager or authenticator app
Important: The export process depends on the app you're using. If you have problems during the export process, visit the support website or contact the support team for the app.
In many apps, you can export your 2FA tokens in these formats:
- QR codes, which you'll scan using a camera during the 2FA setup process. You can only use QR codes to set up 2FA using the Arrow mobile app.
- Setup codes, which are long strings of numbers and letters that you'll enter manually in any Arrow app during the 2FA setup process. The setup codes are usually exported in a CSV, JSON, or TXT file. Depending on the app, the setup code might be called a Secret or an OTP secret.
Tip: If one of the methods for exporting your 2FA tokens doesn't work, try the other one. For example, you might not be able to import the QR code provided by LastPass Authenticator to Arrow. Instead, you can export your tokens from LastPass Authenticator to a JSON file. Then use the setup code for each account, which is labeled secret in LastPass Authenticator, to transfer your 2FA tokens to Arrow.
