You can hide the brand icons, or “rich icons,” that appear next to logins in your Arrow account. Arrow lets you choose whether or not you see these icons so that you have full control of your account's privacy. When you hide rich icons, you’ll see the first two letters of the item name instead of the icon.
What are rich icons?
Rich icons, also known as rich site icons or favicons, are small images associated with a website. Arrow uses rich icons to help you identify your logins in our apps.
How does hiding rich icons improve my privacy?
The process that allows rich icons to appear in your app isn't entirely anonymous:
- We store a list of rich icons on the Arrow servers.
- When you add a new login to Arrow, the app on your computer or mobile device makes a request to our servers.
- We send the rich icon to your device.
In theory, someone could intercept the request for a rich icon before it gets to our servers. If this happened, that person could know you’re using a particular app or website.
Note: During this process, Arrow doesn’t store any personal information on our servers. We log each request to know which icon to send to your app. But before logging the request, we remove all information connected to you.
Rich icons are turned on by default. In the Arrow Android and Apple apps, you can turn off rich icons to add a layer of privacy to your Arrow account. If you turn off rich icons in one app, you won't see the icons in any of your Arrow apps.
